About me
My name is Marianne Scheel, and I'm an illustrator, graphic designer, and fine art artist based in Skibby, Denmark. My work is used commercially in books, editorial applications, short stories, home décor, stationary products and entertainment products, POS signs, as well as displayed in private homes through sales from my own webshop.
I find inspiration in my love for nature, creating colorful realistic illustrations and bold compositions designed to suit the purpose they are created for. Favorite topics I like to illustrate: Flora, fauna and foods.
I work with traditional media such as watercolors, color pencils, gouache, and inks. Depending on the desired look and feel, I use standalone watercolors or gouache, or I combine different mediums together.
BACKGROUND
I'm an illustrator, graphic designer, and fine art artist based in Skibby, Denmark, with an Argentinean twist due to my grandparents migration to Argentina in the early 1900s. When I was five years old, I moved to Argentina with my family to my grandfather's farm on the Argentinian Pampa, the perfect spot for a child to cultivate creativity in close contact and interaction with nature.
I have always had a passion for drawing and coloring since I was a little girl, and I fell in love with illustration during high school when I discovered my parents world atlas book collection, with big and beautiful illustrations of our planet, plants, animals, and colorful maps. I attended drawing and painting classes from the age of 11, and during my last year of high school, I was enrolled in an art school. Unfortunately, studying illustration in the 90s in Argentina didn't seem like a wise decision to make, so I turned to study graphic design instead.
As the country girl I was, I learned to respect, appreciate, and love nature; therefore, I love to paint nature objects. I also love to cook and experiment with flavors, and I enjoy drawing and painting food ingredients and dishes. When painting people, I aim to capture feelings, emotions, and different situations, as well as telling a little story through illustration work.
In 2016, after many exciting years in the world of design, I finally decided to follow my passion for illustration, in combination with all the knowledge I have accumulated throughout my career as a designer. And here I am!
